Boxtown is an indie animated noir buddy comedy about a con man detective (played by Alex Hirsch) who teams up with an innocent, true-crime-obsessed orphan with a hidden murderous side (played by
Sarah Lew).
The world of Boxtown is like a funhouse noir version of ours. Boxtown just happens to also be filled with flamboyant private eyes, gangsters that wouldn’t look out of place in Batman’s rogues' gallery, a knife-wielding dog in a trench coat, and an effete French king running a street gang.

When is Boxtown planned to release?
Boxtown Episode 1 is set to release in late Spring 2025.
Why has the development taken so long?
We've been balancing day jobs and this passion project, which extended the timeline. Plus, the recent downturn in the animation industry hasn't helped. But we're pushing forward!
What is the background of this series?
Boxtown was created by Charlie G, who previously worked on Apple TV+’s Strange Planet. The series began as a revived webcomic and evolved into an independent production after the 2020 animation industry downturn. Alex Hirsch was cast as the lead, and in 2024, EP Adam Yaniv joined the project, bringing extensive industry experience.
